Her vision is to build communities that foster healthy relationships, ensuring that all individuals - children, youth, and adults alike—have the resources to rest, dream, and thrive.

Sarah’s career spans over three decades, during which she has held leadership positions at several social impact organizations. As Executive Director of Prevent School Violence Illinois, she led transformative efforts to foster positive school climates, reduce bullying and aggression, and advocate for effective learning conditions. Sarah served as Policy Director for the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance, where she drove the direction of a policy agenda that championed the inclusion of LGBTQ youth in schools. As Director of the award-winning Court Involved Youth Project through the Health & Medicine Policy Research Group, Sarah developed and delivered critical training for juvenile justice staff and court personnel.

Sarah’s dedication to advancing justice and equity is demonstrated through her pivotal role in shaping significant legislation. She was instrumental in drafting and supporting the passage of Illinois school discipline reform laws and Illinois’ comprehensive bullying prevention and response law, which have profoundly impacted the Illinois education system. She also drafted legislation aimed at reforming sex offender registry laws as applied to youth, reflecting her commitment to protecting vulnerable populations. Additionally, her work has been groundbreaking in championing LGBTQ youth, including drafting and passing the first-ever policy supporting LGBTQ youth in the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center and collaborating with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to reform policies protecting the needs of LGBTQ youth in substitute care.

Sarah holds a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University Law School and a Bachelors in American Studies from Smith College.
