Louise Calloway
Board Member
Louise was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She is a woman of great faith, courage and love. In December of 2011, Louise’s only beloved son, Anthony L. Brown Jr., was killed by senseless gun violence on the south side of Chicago. Anthony was 21yrs old. From this experience, Louise has made it one of her life’s missions to tell her son’s story and to support other families, women in particular, who share this experience. Louise also has a passion to work with organizations that endeavor to help their communities with violence prevention strategies.
Louise believes the way we start to change our communities is to reach the heart of the people by extending mercy and showing love. Louise’s heart’s desire is to lead the hurting to a place of healing and forgiveness through the circle process and one on one Coaching.
Louise retired from law enforcement after 33 years with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. She is a trained crisis counselor, responded to critical incidents within her department and the community, is certified as a juvenile officer, was an ambassador to Cook County’s first Restorative Justice Court, and is a trained peace circle leader/restorative justice practitioner. Louise is also a board member of Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation and Reimagine Justice Illinois.
Through her life and work experiences, Louise has gained a heart of compassion toward victims of violence and offenders. Louise believes in the restorative justice process and its principles and is looking forward to advancing the use of healing circles and mentoring more families.
